When you’re enjoying the great outdoors on a camping trip, you lack the resources of a full kitchen. It can seem daunting to try and feed your family. Don’t stress! Making simple, delicious meals while camping is easier than you think. Here are five easy recipes for inexpensive camping dinners that you and your family are sure to enjoy.
Walking tacos are perfect for camping because you can prep everything ahead of time. You’ll need shredded lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, canned chili, and chips. I like to buy the personal-size Fritos or Doritos so there’s no need for extra plates or bowls. Combine all the ingredients into your chip bag and grab a fork.
Hot dogs are a quintessential, kid-friendly camping meal. For a fun twist, ditch traditional buns in favor of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls. Your kids will love helping you make these yummy crescent dogs. Add some ketchup and mustard and dinner is served.
3. Italian Sausage and Potato Tin Foil Dinner
Like hot dogs, tin foil dinners are another easy, camping staple. To make this recipe, you only need a few ingredients: Italian sausage, potatoes, fresh green beans, olive oil, and fennel salt. Don’t forget to pack the tin foil!
If dutch oven cooking is more your style, try your hand at making these easy and delicious cheesy potatoes. The only ingredients you need are potatoes, onions, bacon, cheese, and the seasoning of your choice. This hearty meal is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
In my family, dinner for breakfast is always well received. This camping-friendly french toast recipe is easy to make and will definitely put smiles on your little ones faces. If you’re so inclined, add some seasonal fruit like strawberries or cherries on top.
