Best of 2021 on Remodelaholic
2021 was a really long year. Like many of you, we had some great moments and some not so great moments and some weird moments (like when we joined TikTok and we’re just not sure what it’s all about yet).

By far our best “project” of the year was this little one, our new baby Alice who joined our family 6 weeks early!
After so many years of infertility and miscarriage and infant loss, we know we are so blessed to have 4 beautiful girls. You can check out one of our gender reveals here!
So we might not have posted a whole lot of new projects this year, but that’s okay.
We never stopped working on projects (like our basement) because that’s the Remodelaholic way. So that just means we have lots to share in 2022, when we can get all the info and photos and videos together!
We’re so grateful to have readers like you, and here are a few project favorites from this year!
1. Character Shaped Flower Bed
One BIG new project that went viral: our Mickey Mouse shaped flower bed planter. So fun to make, even more fun to see in full bloom!

2. First Day of School Signs
With so many kids going back to more traditional in-person school, our editable printable first day of school signs were a best-seller again this year! Such an easy year-to-year photo op.
Be sure to check out the matching birthday signs and milestone signs for pregnancy and baby milestone cards to match, too.
3. Cat Lover’s Collection
In the shop, we (very quietly) launched our new CAT LOVER’S line of products!
We have printable art for instant download, plus tshirts, mugs, journals, tea towels, and zipper pouches (with stickers and magnets coming soon!) for all our fellow cat-aholics, too.

4, 5, 6 and 7. Outdoor Projects
Spring and summer (and fall) are a DIYer’s time to shine! Once again, outdoor projects stole the show and got your votes for the favorite projects on the site this year.

8. DIY Table Saw Workbench
It’s been more than 3 years since we built this awesome workbench for our table saw and router. We are still using it all the time, and we love seeing your versions and modifications!

9. Pallet Projects
Reclaimed wood and pallet projects are always popular, and this year’s lumber prices made this roundup of pallet projects a top post, for the second year running!
This new and amazing entryway herringbone wood ceiling also snuck into the top posts this year. So gorgeous, and so easy (and cheap!)
10. Recessed Low Clearance LED Lights
One feature of our basement remodel really caught attention this year (well, besides the fact that we left the ceiling open) — these easy-install LED disc lights!
While the exposed ceiling trusses in the basement give us a bit of extra height and character, we installed a traditional ceiling in the storage room. Since we needed more light in the room, we set out to find the best solution, and we love these lights!

Lorene has been behind the scenes here at Remodelaholic for more than a decade! She believes that planning projects and actually completing them are two different hobbies, but that doesn't stop her from planning at least a dozen projects at any given time.
