Bringing Spring Colors into Your Home

Hello Remodelaholics!  I am happy to be back for my monthly contribution.  In case you have forgotten me already from last month, I am Cassie from Primitive and Proper.  This month, I want to talk about bringing Spring into your home.  To me, Spring means bright happy colors and fresh blooms.  Let’s take a look at how I have been bringing it into my own home.

I am usually a gray and aqua kind of gal; that palette serves as my neutral.  So I have been working to bring more color into my home to make it feel more alive and Spring-like.  One of my favorite Spring colors is green, so I have been adding some touches of green to the dining room.  I gathered up some green glass pieces I have on hand, some vintage, some not, and even added some fresh branches with greenery to them.  They all sit in the window (on my server turned bar cart) so the light shines through the glass.  Here you can see them in the window, and you can also catch a glimpse of the apple blossoms I cut from a tree for my dining table.
Our entry is also getting a boost of Spring green.  I have a teensy little vintage dresser that resides there, and I recently repainted it.  It was a dark teal, but now it is a happy Spring green (a recent mistint find!).  I added some new aqua knobs from hobby lobby. (I only had 6 on hand, so there are still two more I need!)  Here is the entry, and you can see how it looks into the dining room tying in the green.

And on top of the little dresser, I have a fun little aqua and green Spring vignette; and as you can see in the mirror, even the art work is happy Spring colors!

Recently I have been participating in a fun Color Your World challenge.  Because of this challenge, I am adding another color to my home that I wouldn’t normally use. I chose coral, another bright happy Spring color!  So far I have added it to my mantle in the living room.  The living room features the same aqua and gray from the dining room to create cohesion.  But with Spring here, it’s been fun adding color to that space, too.  Here is the mantle with its new pops of coral!
The best part of all these changes I have made is that they are all minor and easily changed by season (though I won’t be repainting the little dresser anytime soon, but I could easily replace it with another little table).
So what have you been doing around your own home to bring in the Spring?

  1. I’m sorry to be this way but I dont think its working yet unless you are going to add more coral. Maybe the window treatments? I really like the gray, turquoise and yellow with the white pops in the rug and vases combo as it is. Maybe yellow on the mantle instead? Some yelllow flowers and a few National Geographics stacked?

  2. Looks great! I really like the green bottle and bird….very nice.

  6. That green dresser is fun, and coral is such a wonderful color to use as an accent, I can’t wait to see it all pulled together in the room. I’ll be back for your next posts.

  7. I love that bright spring green! It’s such a happy color. Now that my spring flowers are blooming, I’ve been adding color with cut flowers. As an added bonus, the whole house smells like hyacinths right now.
