Color Palatte Tool!

A while ago I shared with you how I like to pick out colors for my home… and today I wanted to show you a fun tool you can use at My Colortopia that will help you create a paint palette in a snap!

If you didn’t read the post from before, to very, very briefly sum up, I like to use an inspiration piece as the basis for choosing colors…. But if you are still having a hard time pulling color from that inspiration piece, I have some good news.

I’ve just been playing around with Glidden’s My Image Inspiration tool, and it is a fun way to find a color palette from an inspiration image.  Really the image can be of anything, art, fabric, your favorite flower, a stinky old tennis shoe (although thankfully an image shouldn’t smell!) – if the colors of that image speak to you that is what is important.  I love this Painting image from Design Sponge… the colors are fabulous!

The tool is so simple to use that I think I tried about 50 different pictures out just to see what kind of palettes I could work with…Let me walk you through how easy it is to use

First hop over to my image inspirationit will look like this, click the “Try it Yourself” button:

step 1 copy

Now, you’ll notice on the left the button that says “Choose File”.  Grab an image, from your computer that you would like to try (or you can grab one from Facebook, or the Colortopia site has inspiration images as well!)

step 2 copy

Once you’ve selected the image click upload, and then the fun part really begins.

Now you will see the image you’ve chosen (this is a painting from Cristall Harper, I love everything she does!)  You can move the selector box around, make it bigger or smaller and easily to decide what you would like to have broken up into a palette.

Then click the show colors button, and can choose which color you want to break down into a palette.

Okay but my favorite part is the options that you have to share the palette once you find one.

You can email it, share it on Facebook, and/ or even print out a shopping list for yourself.

Moral of the story?… I really need to get started on painting the walls for my family room, but I am getting distracted by other projects!  What do you need to find a new color palette for?  Go check this out!  It is fun, even if you don’t think you are shopping for paint!  Featured image source

I have been sponsored by Glidden brand paint to write this post but the thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
