Fabulous New Wood Stain!
Every once in a while I am blessed with a great opportunity from the blog. And I’ve been meaning to tell you about a wonderful trip I got to take early in February.
I had the pleasure of visiting Charlotte, North Carolina(one of my favorite states!) and staying at the historic Duke Mansion (which I have actually seen in a movie I love, The Ultimate Gift) so you can imagine that it was quite fun to get to stay there. It was so beautiful! I have to take you on a quick tour. I wish I could have stayed just a little longer to tour the historic neighborhood, because historical houses are my thing. ( I apologize for some of the crap phone photos)

I had to go out and photograph this cute kids garden, since it looked similar to my dad’s carvings!
It was amazing. Someday I would love to buy an old falling down house and restore it to something wonderful. Maybe not this grand, but it would be so amazing!
Hanging out with these awesome girls (and Ethan!) was one of the very best parts of the event I LOVE meeting new people and there is something so comforting about meeting people that completely understand what you do and how fun/stressful/overwhelming it can be!

We got to go to dinner and hear from John and Sherry of Young House Love! I really love these guys it was fun to meet them. It was fun to meet Jocie in real life for the first time! I featured one of her projects a while ago, a custom spice rack!
Rustoleum invited us to check out a new product or theirs, which was a new wood stain line, that I am telling you is sent from heaven. It achieves the color it says it is in ONE COAT! and is ready for polyurethane in an HOUR! It is amazing!
They have some great colors, like on the sign above Driftwood, Weathered grey (squeal!) and Dark Walnut.
I tried Ebony and Kona! I am in super in LOVE with Kona! The color is just perfect dark but also rich. It was amazing how dark the color was almost instantly, no need for a second coat. And the other half of the news, they have a Matte polyurethane. How many times have you wished for a matte polyurethane? I am so excited to start using it on projects.

Isn’t their stain marvelous? I’ve used it on ALL my wood trim (which in a traditional bungalow is A LOT). I love that it is quick to dry and looks amazing. Also, I tried the matte finish on my desk upstairs and I adore it. It’s the perfect not shiny but protected surface needed for my craft room.
Do you have any more pictures of the different colors of their stain? I’ve only used KONA (love love love) and dark walnut. But that weathered gray looks FUN!
