Friday Favorites: Wood Block Floor and a Beautiful Dog Kennel (yes, I said dog kennel!)

Welcome to another week of Friday Favorites and Remodelaholics Anonymous! We love seeing and sharing great ideas — so send them our way! If you have a blog, you can link up below, and if not, drop us a line here or message us on Facebook. This week, we have some beautiful and unique ideas for you, from a wood block floor made from end-grain lumber to a beautiful dog kennel (yup, you heard correctly) and of course, some lovely farmhouse ideas for you!

Favorite looks-pricy wall decor: Did you spy the tobacco baskets hanging above Anderson and Grant‘s upcycled dresser that we featured last week? They’re a DIY and it sounds like a relaxing weekend project, weaving a basket!

Favorite pantry: I don’t really have a great pantry (yet!) so I love window shopping, and this farmhouse pantry makeover by Little Glass Jar (pinned here) is a testament to the power of a bit of lumber, paint, and stain to give a space a totally different look! This started out as a basic builder-grade wire shelf closet…

Favorite yard sale project: We’ve heard many concerns about Tasha’s utility cover making it difficult to access the meters, so this $20 armoire upcycle by Shabby Glam caught my eye! They cut it in half and mounted it over the meters for an eyesore hiding spot *plus* some added storage. Smart!

Favorite blue of the week: This paisley fabric that Timeless Creations used to upholster these dining chairs is classic and looks wonderful with the stained wood chairs!

Favorite pinch me moment: Isn’t this beautiful dinner setup so picturesque? Gorgeous! So much fun to get to do things like this! (See more of what we’re up to over on Instagram.)

Favorite dog kennel: Yes, I’m a cat person, but WOW, this dog crate by B&B Kustom Kennels makes me want one — the kennel, not yet ready for the dog 😉

Favorite reflection: While I do like the DIY wood shim mirror at Shark Tails — just look at the bed and the rest of the room, too! 🙂 Go check it out!

Favorite porch: The gorgeous carved wood door and transom plus brick porch PLUS big windows with shutters… I’m in love (via Bevolo, pinned here)

Favorite kitchen of the week: In addition to having an outside-the-norm color scheme with the gray cabinets and butcherblock style wood countertops, this kitchen by Cooke and Lewis has a great built-in plate rack (similar to this) and you know I love subway tile!

Favorite new innovative product: I know it doesn’t have anything to do with remodeling, but I think that these (affiliate link) magnetic shoe “ties” are pretty brilliant! Great for so many uses, from kids to older adults who lack the dexterity to tie shoelaces — and me, I would love to have the comfort of an athletic shoe with the ease of the magnet closure.

Favorite wood project: Did you know you can make a wood block FLOOR? We found this picture and it has got the gears a-turning… This article from Bob Vila has some basic info about how to install a wood block floor, so if you try it, we want to see!

Update Feb 2020: This wood block floor was custom made by Lorraine Vojack of Custom Floors Unlimited – Houston TX back in 2008. Follow Custom Floors Unlimited on Instagram to see more of her beautiful custom wood floors!
