You know how everyone is baking cookies when this season come around the corner? Well, while I also bake my fair share of cookies, you’ll probably find me whipping up as many turtle candies as possible. Honestly, for me they are the perfect little treat to give to friends family, neighbors and just about everyone. They are really easy to make, everyone loves and raves about them, and they go great with pretty much everything.
Yes, I’m a turtle candies fan. So much that the last time I found myself with all the ingredients I decided to try to make a turtle candy cake. While the result didn’t come as expected I was again in the kitchen the next day armed with more ingredients. A couple of tests and try after these turtle bars came to life and oh my gosh they are amazing.
And when I say amazing I actually mean so good you’ll find yourself making them again and again and pretty much every single time you find yourself craving a dessert or sweet.
The reason why they are so delicious is that they taste like the real deal. They are chockfull of caramel (seriously go big with it!) and they are packed with chocolate chunks and chopped pecans. The cake that makes the bars is also incredibly flavorful without being too sweet and it’s really soft and slightly moist (while holding the shape great!).
Best of all these turtle bars are also huge crowd favorites and make a great gift as well. So if you are looking to get out of the cookie rut or if you are browsing for a delicious recipe to take to parties or bake sales, trust me when I say this is the one.
